What are the chances of getting a medical waiver?

I have what has recently been called Asburger's syndrome (I thik that's right, basically its a touch of ADD, OCD, and a whole bunch of other things, but just a touch of each. Since it wasn't formally recognised when I was first diagnosed, I was simply diagnosed with ADD).
Anyways, I'm applying to the Air Force Academy for the school year starting June 2007, and it says I can't have taken any medication for ADD, ADHD, or any other psychological disorder within the past 12 Months.
It's currently October 9 and I'm still taking 60mg of Strattera everyday.
What are the chances, if any, that I can get a waiver to still attend the school?

Amber H. say: The reason they tell you that, is because if you are deployed first of all, they have a hard time keeping or getting the meds you need. If you are in Korea, or Japan, it is not likely, or would be costly to get the meds. Alejandro W. say: those are drugs for mental problems. the military doesnt usually issue those. they need people who can handle the stresses of the military without the help of drugs. they need people who are mentally stable. talk to your doctors and see if you can go with out the drugs and talk to your recruiter
Maya B. say: from what I know, they wont take anyone who has ben on "mind altering drugs" to include ADD meds. And depending on bad your aspergers is....they will eventually find out. My step son has it but wasnt diagnosed till he was 17 ( they always just said it was ADD/ADHD) cause its not well known, and by then it was too late to help him make any adjustments...and I had already about killed my self beating my head against the wall trying to get someone to help him. UGHHHH. I say it never hurts to try, they really need people in the forces but they can still be picky. Good luck.
Brianna V. say: You are going to the academy. The best of the best. You may have to settle for a regular college degree and if your medical condition is taken care of you can join at that time. The academy is a very stressful way to earn a degree, I can't see them coddling and making too many exceptions. The competition is too great.
